yes you can use DM port of your Sony TV to see pictures stored on your thumb drive but cannot play MP3 songs

No, the DM (Digital Media) port is not a USB port, but a port that can take the cable from a IPod docking cradle. Via an IPod and the DM Port, you can view digital photos, play music clips or videos. Via the USB port, you can use a flash drive to view photo files or play music clips.
